El otro día platicando con #Rubiamalabsas se concluyó que estaría buenísimo hablar de la moda en mi país: México. Mi nombre es Marcela Cerbón, soy fotógrafa y ¡Amo la moda! Esta semana tuve la oportunidad de entrevistar a uno de los destacados diseñadores de moda en México: José Sanchez, reconocido a nivel mundial por sus distinguidas prendas elaboradas con piel y cueros.

Hello, my name is Marcela Cerbón, I'm a photographer and I love fashion!! The other day talking with #Rubiamalabsas we came to the conclusion that it would be really cool to start talking about fashion in my country: Mexico. This week I had the opportunity to interview one of the biggest fashion designers in Mexico José Sanchez, recognized by his distinguished garments elaborated with leather.

Durante la entrevista en su taller me contó un poco de su trayectoria, me mostró todos los tipos de cueros con los que trabaja y también conocí al equipo con el que trabaja. José me pareció una persona muy ondera, súper agradable, positivo, lleno de energía, que sabe lo que quiere, pleno con su trabajo y con muchos proyectos por delante.

José is a really cool person, he is really nice, positive and he is full of energy. During the interview he told me a little bit of his trajectory and I meet Jose Sanchez´s crew. He knows what he wants, he is happy with his work and he has a lot of projects coming.

El diseñador trabaja con todo tipo de piel, al ver sus prendas pude entender que el cuero puede usarse en cualquier ocasión. Leggings, guantes y accesorios con cuero de textura súper agradable, como un encaje stretch de cuero divino! Texturas metálicas, colores y combinaciones increíbles, faldas y los más lindos abrigos. Por la técnica del spray-back no usa forros, sus cortes y la calidad del material hacen que su ropa sea más cómoda y fácil de usar. José Sánchez está dirigida a una mujer joven trendy. Encaje stretch de cuero

José Works with all kind of leather, when I saw his garments I understood that leather can be used in any time.Amazing, stretch leather leggings, leather globes with the best texture ever strech leather lace!! Metallic textures, colors and incredible combinations, skirts and the nicest coats. Jose does not use lining in his clothes, he uses spray-back technique, because of this, his cuts and the quality of the material Jose uses his clothes are so much conformable usable. José Sanchez designs work for a trendy girl that dares.

RM: ¿Qué es lo que te motiva actualmente, que no sea algo convencional?
JS: Lo urbano. Salir a la calle, observar. Los mercados, los tianguis y los colores. Admiro el estilo propio de las personas.

What motivates you? (Something that is not that common)

The streets, to go out watch people I love to go to markets, tianguis and I really like to see people with their own style.

RM: ¿Qué te llevó a dedicarte a la moda? ¿Crees que tu familia influyó en la decisión?

JS: Sí, mi mamá tenía muy buen gusto para la moda. Yo soy hijo de ganadero y de ahí viene mi relación con el cuero.

What led you into Fashion? Do you think your family influenced your decision?

Yeah, My mom had really good fashion taste. I am a farmer’s son and that’s where my relation with leather comes from.

RM: ¿Cuáles son tus señas de identidad?

JS: El corte y las líneas en mis diseños son perfectos.

What are your identity signs?

Cuts and lines have to be perfect.

RM: Define en una palabra el estilo de José Sánchez.
JS: Sensualidad.

RM: ¿Qué es para ti diseñar con cuero?

JS: La sensualidad, cualquier mujer para mí es sensual. Creo que ni la tela más bella tiene algo tan especial como el cuero, el cuero transmite seguridad.

What does leather design mean to you?
Sensuality, every woman for mi is sexy. I think any fabric is as special as leather, leather makes you secure of yourself.

JS: Alaia y Armani.

RM: ¿Cuál es el mayor logro de tu carrera?

JS: El poder mantener una empresa en la que mi equipo esté contento. Poder dar empleo y que a la gente le guste lo que hago.

What is the greatest achievement in your career?

To maintain a company and to have all my people happy, to have people liking what I do.

RM: ¿Cómo ves el diseño de moda en México?

JS: Veo muchísimo talento, pero creo que se necesita apoyo. El mundo de la moda es difícil, hay que buscar para poder mostrarse al mundo. Es un país creativo, lleno de historia y rico en cultura.

What do you think about fashion design in Mexico?

I think we have a lot of talent, a lot to give but we need support. Fashion world is hard. Mexico is a creative country full with history and culture.

RM: ¿Cuál sería tu mensaje como diseñador y ser humano?

JS: Como ser humano: Perseverar, creer en ti, atreverte y enfrentarte a tus metas, sin importar lo que digan los demás.

Como diseñador: Yo quiero cambiar el concepto de la piel. Creo que sigue siendo enigmático. La gente me pregunta si sigo diseñando en cuero y no habría razón por la que habría de cambiar. Es un material que usamos desde el inicio de la humanidad.

What would your message

to the world be?

AS A HUMAN BEING: To perseverate, to believe in you, to dare and confront your goals, no matter what everybody says.

AS A DESIGNER: I want to change the concept of leather. I think nowadays is still enigmatic. People asks me sometimes if I still use leather in my designs and there’s no reason I should change that. It is the material we use to cover ourselves from the beginning of our times.

RM: ¿Cuál es tu próximo proyecto?

JS: Estamos trabajando en la nueva temporada y por abrir un showroom nuevo en Houston Texas, es un lugar muy estratégico por su relación con México y el mundo.

What is your next project?

We are working in the new collection and we are about to open a new showroom in Houston Texas.
